How Ghostshift works, when to join and what to expect.
What is Ghostshift?
Ghostshift is an online community for people who are awake late: night owls, late workers, students and creators. You can chat, watch YouTube videos together or focus on a task alongside other people.
When does Ghostshift open?
The live community opens at 10pm and closes at 6am in your local time. During the day, the lock screen shows the countdown and offers an email reminder. These information pages remain available throughout the day.
Do I need to pay to join?
Creating a basic profile is free. Optional Night Owl membership adds premium features. The current price and billing period are shown before you pay. Membership does not change the community opening hours.
How do shared videos work?
Each channel has its own video queue. Members can propose YouTube videos and vote on what plays next. Votes do not interrupt the current video. The Channel DJ can choose the next video immediately. When the community queue is empty, an enabled admin playlist can continue in that channel.
Can I use Ghostshift to study or work?
Yes. The Lock In channel is for focused work and accountability. Choose a task and use a focus session while other night owls work alongside you.
How do 10pm email reminders work?
Enter your email on the lock screen and confirm it using the link in the email. Confirmed reminders are sent at 10pm in your selected local time zone. You can unsubscribe through the link in each reminder.
How old do I need to be?
You must be at least 16 years old, as set out in the Terms of Service. Harassment, hate speech, illegal content, impersonation and spam are not allowed.
