Deadline at 9am? Essay that won’t write itself? LOCK_IN is where night owls come to actually get things done. Everyone works on their own thing, nobody works alone, and somehow that makes all the difference.
01. Sprints on the hour
Every hour starts with a FOCUS_SPRINT: 50 minutes of deep work, then a 10-minute break to stretch, refill and talk. Start at the top of the hour or whenever you arrive.
02. Say it out loud
Lock in with your main goal for the night and break it into tasks. When you start, tick something off or finish the lot, the room sees it. Small wins, witnessed. It’s surprisingly motivating.
03. House rules
This is the quiet room. No spam, no derailing, no “quick question” that turns into an hour. If someone is deep in a sprint, let them hunt.
04. Who you’ll find here
Students cramming before exams, freelancers on deadline, coders, writers and night-shift workers. If it helps you to have someone working next to you (some call it body doubling), you’ll fit right in.
05. Questions
Is it like a virtual study room?
Pretty much. Think of a library at midnight: everyone at their own desk, together, with short breaks to talk.
Do I have to talk?
Not at all. Plenty of people just set a goal and work. The chat is there for breaks and check-ins.
Is it free?
Yes. Look around as a guest, or make a free profile to chat, add videos and vote. NIGHT_OWL membership is an optional extra.
